Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses the patient’s blood to stimulate hair growth. The Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into the patient’s scalp using a thin needle. This activates the patient’s blood cells, which in turn stimulates natural hair growth.
The patient’s blood must first be drawn as a preparation for the use of Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP). The PRP is collected via a venesection, which is the same procedure used in blood tests or blood donations. The site of the venesection is a large vein located on the patient’s upper arm, and approximately 20ml of blood may be collected.
During a process called centrifugation, the platelets are seperated from other blood cells and increased in concentration. The blood will be spun down into a centrifuge, separating the required components and this process takes about 8 to 10 minutes. The Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) is harvested, and the increased concentration of platelets is then combined with the remaining blood.
The results of the PRP treatment will appear after the first 3 weeks, and with 3 to 4 repeated treatments, the effects can last between 12 to 18 months (vary with individuals). There is no downtime required, and patients can return to their daily activities immediately after treatment. PRP Hair Restoration is the state of the art and naturally enhancing treatment for hair loss.
