What is it?
The Fractional Laser is a non-invasive treatment that targets both aged and sun-damaged skin. It can be utilised on any location of the body and is particularly effective on the neck, chest and hands.
How it works?
The Fractional Laser treats both the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. The microscopic laser columns breakthrough deep into the skin to accelerate the body’s remodelling of collagen. The surrounding tissue is left intact, promoting quick recovery time. The treatment resurfaces the skin by stimulating the growth of healthy skin.
The Fractional Laser treats the following:
- Scarring
- Facial lines and wrinkles
- Sun-damaged skin
- Skin pigmentation e.g. melasma
- Rhinophyma
What to expect?
The first 24 hours after treatment, the patient may experience a sunburnt skin sensation, with a pink or red appearance. The skin naturally bronzes within 2 weeks, and this appearance continues to occur after each repeated treatment. The sunburnt skin flakes exfoliate regularly, and it is appropriate to use a suitable moisturiser to reduce the appearance of dry, flaky skin.
Basic skin care practices after treatment is essential. These include applying sunscreen of SPF 30, avoiding direct sun exposure for at least for 3 months after treatment, and wearing appropriate clothing when outdoors, e.g. a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. An effective treatment plan is conducted over 3 to 5 sessions and spaced 4 weeks apart.
The results?
The results are progressive, with ideal improvements. The timeframe and treatment structure allows for complete healing, the production of new collagen, and elastin replacement.
